Why massage? Why writing? Why both together, you ask? Good questions. I do these things because they are what my spirit brought me to. It seems to me that touching somebody else with caring and compassion is the exact opposite of shooting them with a gun or stabbing them with a bayonet or raping them. So, in this sense, massage is a sane response to the insanity of all those millions of sons and brothers and fathers killed in wars and violent crimes throughout history. And it's a humane response to all the grief caused when women are touched with the intent to violate them or take something away from them. Sometimes I question why I'm still here. "Why not get a normal job in an airtight glass building?" I ask myself. And the only answer that ever comes is this: I CANNOT do anything else because it depresses me too much and I get morose and nobody can stand to be around me. Besides, I need adventure. Life for me has become one long ongoing Massage Adventure, and now you're a little part of it, especially if you decide to get in touch with me. Much of my massage career has been spent working in health spas, and that was the subject of my first book, The Royal Treatment. Spas are great because they're places where people care for each other in compassionate ways. We all deserve The Royal Treatment, not just the rich & famous, and that's why I wrote the book. Based on the model of the spa, we can all give The Royal Treatment to each other. I continue to work within the spa industry doing various indefinable things. Mostly, I network and enjoy seeing everybody at the annual International Spa Association (ISPA) convention. Now I'm interested in inspiring others to take up the career of massage therapy and be successful at it, and that's why I wrote my second book, Massage Therapy Career Guide. My latest adventure is to tell as many people as possible about massage and about how they can give themselves and the ones they love The Royal Treatment. That's why I wrote Massage for Dummies (part of the internationally best-selling series). It's for absolutely everybody who would like to include the pleasures and benefits of massage in their lives. You don't have to be a sleek supermodel or a new-age fitness freak to get into massage. You just need to be human. I applaud your humanity. I want to support it. I want to help you reach out and touch life with confidence and love. These days I spend my time on massaging, writing, engaging in promotional endeavors, teaching, consulting, and being with my family, which includes my wife Atchana, boys Brandon & Tyler, and their grandmother Umpun at our home in Miami, Florida.
